Ridley, Bendigo VIC
Ridley are Australia's largest producer of livestock feeds and their new facility, which began construction in April 2019, will supply the expanding markets in Central and Northern Victoria.
The situation
Ridley Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Tim Hart stated, “This state-of-the-art facility will enable us to support the continued growth of poultry and pig producers in the region, and will help us realise manufacturing and logistics efficiencies.”
The grain silos required egress to enable personnel to access the large structures with safety and confidence.
Solution
To begin the process, Kattsafe worked closely with engineers from LGPM to model up a system that was fully modular and one that would attach to the silos without compromising their integrity.
Initial drawings were created using the Kattsafe Builda and after several revisions the concept of marrying both platforms and rung ladders was visualised, providing a perfect design solution.
Kattsafe platforms and rung ladders are fully modular systems and were delivered in kit form ready for assembly on-site. As there is no requirement for hot works, LPGM were able to carry out a quick and easy install.
Additionally, as both systems are manufactured from lightweight robust aluminium and require minimal maintenance, this provided an additional advantage given their high exposure to the elements. Kattsafe platforms and stairs are adjustable on-site with no specialist tools enabling modifications in situ.
At a cost of $47M, Ridley now operates out of brand new facilities in Bendigo with improved efficiency, quality and safety.
