Hello there.

In Australia, courts are now holding individuals responsible for adverse accidents that happen as a result of fall from heights.

It’s your duty of care as a building designer to provide adequate documentation as to how the access and maintenance is going to be carried out on your particular project. It’s not okay to put a one-liner in to say, a height safety specialist needs to review the access. It’s your duty of care to implement it in the documentation phase. The good news is, SAYFA have a design team that would love to work with you. We’d love to help you out with your access and fall protection challenges.

We cover off on things like access to elevated areas, we cover off on fall arrest systems on the roof. We cover off on facade access, we cover off on glazing replacement and solar panel replacement. All the strategies we put together with you, we hold your hand. We’d love to work with you.

We don’t only look at compliance. Compliance is a given. Compliance is like oxygen. Every design we come up with has to be compliant. What we look at is fit for purpose. It’s over and above compliance and it could substantially reduce the ongoing costs for the lifetime of that project. So that’s where we will put down options. We’ll discuss it with your client. You can go back to your client. Your client can select an option. It’s engaged. It makes you look really good and it shows it demonstrates that you’re taking safety in design seriously.

The other thing it does is it prevents the need for rework. We’ve understood what needs to go on. We’ve coordinated with the other trades, the mechanical plants, the solar panels on the roof. We’ve understood it all. We’ve coordinated it all. There’s a reduced need for rework. Send us a pack of drawings. We’ll start the collaborative approach, We’ll provide you a proposal document, we’ll provide you a scope of works, we’ll provide you layouts. We’ll actually nominate where the product needs to go on your roof plans. We’ll stipulate what the product is and where it needs to go.

In return for this service. We do ask if you could include our documentation that we provide you in your tender package. So when it hits the market, it’s very easy for our install partners to price it up to the builder and as well as carry out the install. As we know with fall arrest and height safety systems, there’s many different ways we can do it. Every way is compliant. Not every way is best fit for purpose. If we don’t include the layout plans in the tender pack, you can get multiple different strategies, multiple different designs coming back, we ask that you please include the layout plans in the tender pack to ensure we get apples for apples, and the strategy that the client is engaged with is rolled out and is actually seen in the physical built environment.
