Sunshine Hospital, Melbourne VIC
Sunshine Hospital is a public hospital located on Furlong Road in St Albans, a suburb of Melbourne, Australia. It is one of three major hospitals operating in the western suburbs of Melbourne.
)
The Sunshine Hospital in Melbourne's inner suburbs required an in-depth height access package that featured access to the outside facades and the many internal atriums for maintenance and cleaning.
The roof space proved difficult for typical height access solutions due to the space restrictions from the large machinery and solar panels present.

Solution
The APS team worked with our design and engineering teams to create an entire end-to-end range of products to supply those working in and around the entire building.
For access inside the large atriums, numerous needle arms were installed around the edge, as they can be swiveled to span the entire length of the wall. For the internal glass structure, rigid rail and miniature custom needles were installed due to the restricted space allowed.
To clean the outside facade of the building, several low-profile davit bases were installed onto structural steel beams, with a surrounding elevated walkway platform to access the elevated davit bases.
In addition to the davits, several needles were also installed with our rigid rail, spanning over the solar panels on the roof, creating a streamlined rope access solution that doesn't require any extensive engineering or additional support to handle.

Additional step ladders, fall arrest anchors, steps, guardrail, and walkway were included in and around the roof space, creating a fully traversable roof space for all technicians and personnel.
The outcome was a complete success. Due to our lightweight, modular products, the entire project was delivered quicker than expected, and was much easier for the teams to install and use.
