Introducing: Kattsafe industrial modular access

We’ve been manufacturing innovative modular access systems you can count on for over 10 years.
And now, we’re taking things to new heights with the introduction of our stair tower system, the first of our new industrial modular access range.

Made from high-strength aluminium and with more scalability in less footprint, this stair tower can go where others simply can’t.

Can you put a roof access ladder in a fire escape?

Today I'm here to talk to you about using a roof access, typically a ladder in a fire escape. As you know, they're often the only common area, so they're a very popular option.

We get asked a lot. Can we put a ladder in a fire escape? What is a very popular option is to increase the slab at the top of the landing a little bit larger. So you make it nine hundred wide and a meter deep, and it gives you a nice footprint in order to mount a fixed ladder to. And then you have a cage extender that prevents you from falling down the staircase.

That is a very effective way to introduce a fixed ladder. Number one, it doesn't impede the flow of egress. It doesn't impact the clearances around the hydrants. It's clear of door swings typically, and it's a fixed ladder so it's a fully compliant safe means to access the roof.

We have a blog on this and that's got a few diagrams examples of projects we've done in the past. Happy reading.
