Baiada Poultry Processing Plant, Tamworth NSW
The soon-to-be-completed processing plant will be Australia's largest of its kind, increasing output by more than triple its current results. This large-scale facility required numerous access systems around the plant to ensure a seamless flow without disruption to the workers.

The sheer scale of the facility provided a few challenges for the design team when including traditional height safety systems.
Large, bulky steel solutions would take too much time to install, and couldn't span the distances needed in one seamless solution.
The extreme amounts of guardrail required on each building also meant the chosen solution needed to be simple to install, ensuring a hassle-free project for the AHSS team.
The project required roof access for maintenance on each of the 8 facilities included, fall protection for the maintenance workers, and extensive lengths of suspended walkway above the coolrooms.

Solution
Working closely with the Baiada and AHSS team, we designed a fit-for-purpose modular height safety package that ensures seamless flow and minimal downtime for installers and workers on the project during construction.
Our rung ladders were installed between the differing roof levels for access to the roofs of the buildings for maintenance.
On top of the roofs, several rapid top mount anchors were included for safe and easy access around the space and were used to keep AHSS installers safe during the installation.
Surrounding the entire perimeter of each facility, our lightweight aluminium guardrail provided high-strength fall protection for all workers on the roof. The simple installation procedure meant AHSS could mount the whole system in a short amount of time, without hassles.
The main admin building required 50+ fall arrest anchors around the edge for gutter maintenance, with access onto the roof via a roof hatch, surrounded by fold down guardrail.
Extensive lengths of guardrail and walkway were also installed to traverse the ceiling space safely.

Main building (Sector 1A)
Inside the main processing building, several cool rooms required access above the units for the workers to traverse the space safely, without being near the dangerous machinery. In these spaces, we installed our suspended walkway, spanning across whole rooms without the need for large bracing or support structures, due to the nature of our lightweight systems.
During construction, our temporary anchors were used to safely install all height safety on the roof space, and several modular access stairs were used to access the portable workspaces and bathrooms.
Overall, the project was finished easily and quickly using our modular, lightweight products, creating a hassle-free job site for the installers, reducing the time in and on the roof.
