Department of Lands, Sydney NSW
The Department of Lands is a heritage-listed state government administration building located in the busy streets of Sydney's central business district. Built in 1876, it is one of the most outstanding surviving Victorian buildings in Sydney.

During the refurbishment, the building underwent major upgrades to revitalise the interior and exterior, upholding the importance of this iconic building.
Due to the Victorian-era building design, the intricate overhangs meant there were a lot of limitations as to what systems could be installed onto the facade for ongoing maintenance using rope access.
In addition to the building design, the building's facade structure, made of fragile sandstone, is not designed to withstand excessive loads. Any heavy rope access solution would compromise the structure over time and would require additional bracing to hold it in place.

Solution
This unique situation called for a system that needed to be lightweight enough to protect the building’s facade, slimline to preserve the architectural intent, and strong enough to deliver long-term reliability.
Our rigid stealth rail was the perfect fit. Engineered for performance and designed with discretion in mind, it integrates seamlessly into the structure, maintaining the building’s interesting design while providing safe, dependable access for years to come.
The lightweight construction of the rail means it does not place unnecessary stress on the building, and its carefully considered fixing methods ensure the installation process is controlled, precise, and non-invasive, protecting both the facade and the structural integrity beneath.
The client also loved the fact that our removable trolleys can be stored away when not in use, protecting their lifespan while keeping the access solution virtually out of sight.
