Suntop solar farm, Wellington NSW
Located south of Dubbo near Wellington, the Suntop Solar Farm is a major renewable energy project capable of generating approximately 396 GWh of electricity each year, enough to power more than 65,000 homes.
Featuring single-axis tracking technology that allows solar panels to follow the sun throughout the day, the facility is helping support Australia's transition to renewable energy while creating valuable employment opportunities in the region.

The challenge
The solar farm's raised delivery stations required safe access for ongoing inspection and maintenance activities. Without dedicated access systems or working platforms in place, maintenance personnel faced challenges accessing equipment safely and efficiently.
Given the site's remote location, the client needed a solution that could be transported, unloaded and installed with minimal reliance on cranes, specialist equipment or additional trades. All systems also needed to comply with relevant Australian and New Zealand Standards while providing a practical long-term access solution.
Bouygues Construction Australia
Our solution
Having previously partnered with Bouygues Construction Australia on the Melbourne Metro Tunnel project, Kattsafe was engaged to deliver a safe, practical access solution for the Suntop Solar Farm.
Using Kattsafe's Builda® configurator, the project team was able to quickly develop compliant platform concepts and visualise the finished systems before installation. From there, Kattsafe supplied modular access platforms and stairs designed specifically for the site's remote conditions.
To minimise installation time on site, the platforms were pre-assembled by Kattsafe's Production Team at our Boronia facility and delivered in modules ready for installation. This reduced site labour requirements and helped accelerate the project program. For projects with transport or access constraints, the same systems can also be supplied as flat packs, making them easier to deliver to locations with limited space or restricted access.
Because the installation was taking place in regional NSW, the platforms were designed to require minimal site preparation while still meeting the project's operational and compliance requirements. The result was a safe, easy-to-install access solution that reduced complexity for the client and provided reliable access for ongoing maintenance activities.
