The situation
Melbourne’s Sandown Raceway (Ladbrokes Park) is a motor racing circuit 25km southeast of the city centre and is now one of Australia's oldest permanent motor racing facilities, also housing a busy horse racing circuit within its perimeter.
The expansive grandstand and club facility roof is a highly frequented area as there is a lot of plant equipment, including refrigeration and air conditioning units. The area is also frequently accessed by film crews when televising events.
To protect both the maintenance workers and the roof surface, the Sandown Facility needed a compliant, lightweight, and durable access solution that could withstand the test of time and be simple to install and use.

General Access, Fall Arrest, Step Ladders And Steps, Anchor Points, Modular Access Systems, Guardrails, Walkways
Solution
Kattsafe worked with Anchor Safe to design a safe access solution, comprising of 280 metres of elevated platform along the entire roof length, 34 step ladders, multiple crossovers, anchors and multiple roof mounted aluminium walkway lengths, installed for safe access when maintenance workers are working at height and closer to the roof edge.
Access around the roof space was once limited by the multiple parapets in place on the roof, but with Kattsafe platforms, all access systems were raised above the parapets to create a simple and effective walkway without obstructing the existing structure.
