One City Hill is Canberra’s latest iconic corporate address. Located at the very center of Australia's capital, the expansive commercial office complex features a curved, 25-metre-high facade.

The challenge
The intricate design of the roof proved difficult due to the many layers in the design and the differing materials around the structure.
Access was required around the entire perimeter of the building due to the all-glass 25-metre-high facade, with additional access points required around the structure for a seamless, end-to-end solution.
The internal glass atrium is the center piece for the building, and requires additional access products to maintain the glass and levels below.

Our solution
Working closely with Suresafe, we designed a seamless end-to-end height access package for each of the building structures and the adjoining walkway.
The north building includes 181 meters of rigid rail surrounding the structure for rope access and fall arrest, 270 meters of static line for safe access traversing the roof spaces and solar panels, 4 davit arms with 8 davit bases to allow multiple users and locations for rope access, and much more.
Specialised wall-mount front brace rolling davits were mounted to one side of the building to allow for window cleaning and access to the windows below, as there is no parapet to suspend from.
The differing levels between the roofs required davits to be used to descend the needle arms down onto the level 6 roof from the access point on level 7.
Several needles, anchor points, and needle bases were also included.
The glass atrium located in the center of the north building also required several engineered rigid rails surrounding the shape on the inside, as well as numerous spans of rail on the lattice structure and surrounding roof.

On the south building, 226 metres of static line was required for safe access, and 276 metres of aluminium walkway was included to allow access to every part of the roof space, including HVAC units, solar panels and the number of davit bases for rope access located around the edge of the site.
The differing levels between the roofs required davits to be used to descend the needle arms down onto the level 6 roof from the access point on level 7.
The lightweight aluminium systems were highly sought after due to the ease of transport and use on the roof spaces.
