Introducing: Kattsafe industrial modular access

We’ve been manufacturing innovative modular access systems you can count on for over 10 years.
And now, we’re taking things to new heights with the introduction of our stair tower system, the first of our new industrial modular access range.

Made from high-strength aluminium and with more scalability in less footprint, this stair tower can go where others simply can’t.

Designed to AS 1657:2018 and load tested to AS/NZS 1170, with a 2.5kPa limit.

When do you need a suspended walkway?

When people need safe access to something at height and there is nothing underneath to build from, or nothing underneath that will take the load. Typical cases: services above a live production line, plant above a public space, and fire, lighting or mechanical services sitting above a false ceiling that cannot be walked on.

Suspended, elevated or crossover?

  • Suspended walkway (KC600). Hung from roof purlins or concrete at drop heights to 6.0m. Use it when the load cannot go into the floor or ceiling below.

  • Elevated walkway (KC500). The same continuous route, supported from below. Use it when there is floor to stand supports on.

  • Stair crossover (KC300). Up, across and down over a single obstruction on a route people already walk.

  • Access platform (KC200). A place to stand and work, rather than a route through.

Built for suspended access

A suspended walkway hangs from roof purlins or concrete at drop heights to 6.0m, which puts access where the plant is and keeps load off whatever sits underneath: a false ceiling, a production line, an atrium. It is the system for sites where there is nothing below strong enough to build from, or nothing at all.

Load tested, not just rated

Kattsafe platform and stair components and base configurations are designed and load tested against Australian Standards AS 1657:2018 and AS/NZS 1170, and Builda checks your design as you draw it. The result is a 2.5kPa working load limit, stated up front.

Flat-packed Kattsafe modular access components ready for assembly
Installed without hot works

Systems arrive flat-packed and partially assembled and go together with basic hand tools and M10 T-bolts: no welding, no cutting, no special equipment. Inside a roof cavity that is not a convenience, it is the only way the job happens at all. Individual sections are light enough to hand-carry.

Tools and resources

Download the Revit files to drop a suspended walkway straight into your BIM model, or design the whole run in Builda. If you want a hand sizing a suspended walkway for your site, our sales team is happy to help.

Kattsafe Builda

Our 3D configurator lets you design a suspended walkway for your facility in real time, with compliance guidance as you draw and full technical drawings and component lists at the end.

Lakeside Shopping Centre, Perth, WA

When one of Perth's largest shopping centres replaced its glass atriums with solid roofs and false ceilings, maintenance still had to reach the sprinklers and emergency lighting above them, and the new ceilings could take no load. Steel could not be welded inside the roof cavity. Kattsafe supplied a suspended aluminium walkway instead.
